Work Zone Safety Safety is a vital part of the ongoing construction process. It is important to plan ahead for restrictions and to slow down in the work zone. Drivers and pedestrians are responsible for staying alert and obeying traffic laws; including signage, traffic barricades and flaggers within construction work zones. Most importantly: slow down in the work zones. The speed limit on I-10 has been reduced to
55 mph in work zones for the project duration. The reduced speed limits are intended
to protect drivers, passengers and workers in the work zone.
