Avondale’s Character Recognition Program serves to
recognize and highlight good character traits exemplified by individuals and
groups throughout the community – from individuals and schools to
neighborhoods and businesses.
The City encourages community
participation in this program. If you know of an individual, school,
neighborhood or business that exemplifies good character in the community,
please nominate them to be recognized. Nominees will receive a Character
Recognition Certificate, a City of Character pin, and a letter for
congratulations from the Mayor. They will also receive recognition on the
City’s website.
You may choose from the following Recognition categories:
- Kids of Character – designed to recognize children up to
12 years old.
- Students of Character – designed for middle through high
school students.
- School of Character – intended to highlight innovative
or worthy programs and initiatives in our schools.
- Persons of Character – to acknowledge good deeds or
special achievements of individuals.
- Neighborhoods of Character – intended to recognize
efforts by a particular neighborhood or HOA, for example, hosting a GAIN
event or establishing a successful block Watch program.
- Businesses of Character –
this category encourages participation from the business community for
efforts to create safe and community friendly environments.
