Avondale appreciates the partnership with our community military base.  Luke Air Force Base, the largest fighter-training base in the world, is located on 4,200 acres north of Avondale. Initiating operations in 1941, the base employees more than 8,000 people today. Home to the 56th Fighter Wing, Luke is estimated to be worth $1.5 billion annually to the Valley's economy.
