  1. Open House scheduled on Historic Avondale streets and waterlines projects

    Street and waterline improvements are coming to Historic Avondale neighborhoods. The community is invited to an Open House Meeting on Wednesday, August 29 to learn more about the proposed construction plans. The City of Avondale has allocated some of its Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for the reconstruction of the following streets: Harrison Drive, Southern Lane, Pacific Drive, Rose Lane, Belmont Drive, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Streets. Streets will be repaved and sidewalks and sidewalk ramps will be improved to enhance pedestrian safety. Some streets will also be narrowed to provide better pedestrian access. This project is funded from the General Fund and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. Construction will begin in the summer of 2013 and last through winter 2013.   2. SBDC - HP LIFE Academy - Project Management/Virtual Collaboration

    This topic focuses on project management as the practice of planning, executing and controlling a project. Students are introduced to project management as a concept and understand that projects are made up of tasks that have some definite characteristics. Students discuss different ways of managing such tasks and are presented with the advantages of a project management approach that prevents entrepreneurs from getting lost in a maze of different activities. Students learn how to use an open source project management tool to start a project, add tasks with different parameters, and group and link tasks.
