Block Watch Packet
Block Watch is citizens and police working in partnership to reduce crimes and improve the quality of life in neighborhoods. It is a cohesive body of concerned citizens addressing issues that concern the entire community. It is neighbors getting to know each other, taking the time to care about each other and working together in a program of mutual assistance.
Any community resident can join -- young and old, single and married, renter and home owner. A few concerned residents or a community organization can spearhead the effort to organize a Block Watch group.
They are extra eyes and ears for reporting crime and helping neighbors. Block Watch helps build pride and serves as a springboard for efforts that address community concerns such as recreation for youth, child care, and affordable housing.
You can form a Block Watch group around any geographical unit: a block, apartment, park, business area, public housing complex, office, etc
Complete the Block Watch Sign Request form and return it along with the completed Block Watch packet to the Avondale Police Department Community Services Department.

When you call 911, your call and location is entered into a computer at the Phoenix Fire Department’s Alarm Room. Every fire engine, ladder truck, ambulance, chief’s vehicle etc. is tracked by a Global Positioning System (GPS). The computer will take the information from your call and locate the unit closest to your emergency and dispatch that unit, regardless of the fire department or the city. It is not uncommon to see Avondale fire apparatus in Phoenix or Goodyear and visa versa.
