The City of Avondale, in partnership with the American Legion Crandall Palmer Post 61 and the VFW Pat Tillman Memorial Post 40, will hold its annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Wednesday, Nov. 11 to honor all veterans in the community. The event begins at 10 a.m. at the Avondale Civic Center Amphitheater.

Each year, the community comes together in Avondale to pay special tribute to the veterans of the Armed Forces. Joining Avondale in this year’s tribute are guest speakers Col. Jeffrey R. Weed, Vice Commander, 56th Fighter Wing, Luke Air Force Base, and Mercy Montgomery, President of the Ladies Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Department of Arizona. This year’s event will also feature Agua Fria High School District ROTC Color Guard posting of the colors, a flyover from Luke Air Force Base, and information booths from various military branches and local Veteran Support Groups. Guests will also have an opportunity to view the most recent installation of engraved bricks at the Veterans Memorial Walk of Honor. Immediately following the ceremony, attendees are invited to take part in a free barbecue lunch provided by the VFW Pat Tillman Memorial Post 40 and American Legion Crandall Palmer Post 61.
The public is invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets, and to enjoy the celebration, which takes place at the outdoor amphitheater at the Civic Center. For more information, please call (623) 333-2400
