Avondale Adopts 2012-2013 Budget
The Avondale City Council on Monday night adopted a budget of approximately $159.5 million for the 2012-2013 fiscal year. The new budget represents a $3.6 decrease over last year’s budget, reflecting a reduction in the capital budget.
“Financial indicators have continued to trend in an upward direction over the last several months and we are seeing positive growth in local revenues.” said Avondale City Manager Charlie McClendon. “Yet, with the recovery in the economy still underway, we will continue to take a conservative approach to the budget and our planned expenditures. As in years past, we developed a fiscally responsible plan while maintaining exceptional service and quality operations for our residents.”
Significant budget changes to the 2012-2013 base budget include the following items: increase in fuel contingency monies in anticipation of rising fuel prices, funding for community and special events, and funds for rehabilitation and replacement of wastewater treatment plant facilities and equipment.
